Day 4 – July 13, 2015

Banteay Kdei Banteay Srei | Banteay Samre |  PreRup

Banteay Kdei

(mid 12th – 13th century) A Buddhist temple, known as “a citadel of chambers”. Here I met a local guide who I think just lived here or just hung out here in order to give tourists the “best” spots to take photos. At first I said “no, thank you” and ventured on. He kept telling me about a big spider, which I would find on my own. Everything was pretty open to exploration. I’m just super glad I didn’t walk right into the spider’s web. I would have freaked out. I would see the local photo “guide” again and he would voluntarily show me a “good” shot to take a photo. So for the second half I was there, I let him show me spots and tag along wherever I went. As I headed out, he was looking for a money tip. I think I gave him a few dollars but I think he was expecting more and I think I apologized for not having more. Thank you for understanding.

Banteay Srei

(10th century) A Hindu temple not built by a monarch.

Banteay Samre

(12th century) A Hindu temple named after the people of Indochina.

Pre Rup

(Early 961-962) A Hindu temple for Khmer King Rajendravarman.

Day 5 – July 14, 2015

It’s Tuesday and I have to check out of Damnak Kunthea Villa to go to another hotel. It’s not that this one was bad. I actually wish I had stayed. It was a great stay and closer walk to the Pub Street. But I had already booked another hotel awhile back.

Next hotel in Siem Reap was Landing Point Hotel. Super nice but a little bit further from the Pub Street scene. Since I’ve done so much exploring, today was a pretty chill day and relaxed by the pool.

Day 6 – July 15, 2015

Today it rained most of the day. Didn’t get to go out much but I’m glad I already went to the wats and temples a few days ago.

Day 7 – July 16, 2015

Walked around a bit and came upon Wat Bo. It actually reminds me of Thai temples. I didn’t stay long since it was getting hotter. Plus, I sort of feel templed out for a bit. Hah. So many in the past couple days. Just want to relax a bit more.

In the evening, I headed out to Pub Street and just take in the night scene. I ate at a new place that was on the 2nd floor and got to see the street from above.

Afterwards, I got dessert that looks like a cane with ice cream on both ends.

I walked around Night Market and ended up at a dance club to end the night.

Day 8 – July 17, 2015

So I checked out and today was my last day in Siem Reap. It was an Awesome time, thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The food, the people, the wats, all of it were so enjoyable. Until next time.
